OPINION - RESULTS OF ONLINE POLLING
 
The following are the results of Mililani Interactive's online polling. The polls are unscientific -- they only survey visitors to this site.
 
  • Case v. Akaka (Sep06) - 58% for Case, 41% for Akaka.
  • Councilperson Donovan Dela Cruz (Jul03) - 40% said he was doing a good job; 38% said he wasn't; 22% said they didn't know what he had done.
  • Gambling casino (Apr01) - 76% said a single casino in Koolina might be ok. 24% against.
  • Public education strike (Apr01) - 85% said governor was responsible for the strike.
  • Pay increase for teachers (Mar01) - 96% favor a pay increase.
  • Ambulance facility (Jan01) - 98% want a facility in Mililani.
  • Cellular antenna in Mililani (Jan01) - 90% against, 6% say there is no evidence that it's harmful, 2% say it's safe, 2% are undecided.
  • Private security for Mililani (Sep00) - 96% don't mind a 75 cents increase of their MTA dues which would be used for private security services for Mililani.
  • New UH logo (Sep00) - 77% like the new logo; 23% want to bring back the old logo.
  • Limit number of dogs (Sep00) - 44% prefer no limit; 36% want a limit of 2; 9% prefer a limit of 3; 10% prefer a limit of 4; 1% don't care about the issue.
  • Noise from Military training (May00) - 92% of Mauka reseidents said that the noise doesn't bother them.
  • Elian Gonsalez (May00) - 52% want Elian to stay in the USA; 48% think that he should return to Cuba with his father.
  • Paying MTA dues (Apr00) - 80% want the option of paying online via credit card.
  • Bush vs. Gore (Apr00) - 85% preferred Gore for president.
  • Bush vs. McCain (Mar00) - 88% preferred McCain.
  • The neon lights on the theater (Mar00) - Out of 838 votes cast, 78% said it's ugly; 15% said it looks good; & 7% said the neon doesn't bother them.
  • Adding flouride to our drinking water (Feb00) - 83% against.
  • UH defensive coordinator vacancy (Dec99) - Former UH head coah Bob Wagner was interested in the job. 14% want him hired; 9% against; 77% said he should be interviewed.
  • Debate between U.S. Senator Dan Inouye & Hawaiian Activist Mililani Trask (Dec99) - 60% interested in seeing a debate, 40% not interested.
  • You're the coach (Nov99) - 90% would ease-up if your team had a big lead late in the 4th quarter. 10% would keep on scoring.
  • Saving for retirement (Nov99) - 98% save regularly for retirement.
  • Awarding government contracts to firms connected to family members (Nov99) - 95% believed that having a subordinate employee review & approve the contracts does not address the issues of propriety & conflict of interest.
  • TV anchors (Oct99) - 91% preferred Howard Dashefsky over Dan Cooke.
  • Excess enrollment at Mililani Mauka Elementary (Oct99) - 87% preferred mult-track calendar; other preferences were more portables 5%, re-district 4%, & 3-in-2 classes 4%.
  • Recreation Centers (Sep99) - 76% used the centers in the past 6 months.
  • Mililani Wastewater Treatment Plant (Aug99) - 66% unconditionally favored reopening; 3% opposed; & 31% said ok if no other options are available.
  • Attorney & former State Director of Finance Earl Anzai (July99) - 18% favored his nomination for attorney general; 81% opposed.
  • State Senator Randy Iwase (June99) - 35% said he was doing a good job; 42% said he wasn't; 27% said that they didn't know whether he was doing a good job or not.
  • Attorney General Margery Bronster (May99) - 51% disagreed with the Senate's decision to not confirm Bronster; 49% agreed.
  • Online Shopping (Apr99) - 96% plan to shop online in the next few months.
  • Signs on road medians (Apr99) - 93% think the signs are dangerous & an eyesore.
  • Ballot recount (Mar99) - 90% agreed with the Senate's position that a recount is needed.
  • Gambling (Feb99) - 87% wagered a bet or visited a casino in the past 12 months.
  • Commuting to work (Feb99) - 77% said they would use a rail or trolley 10 yrs from now, 14% would drive, 5% bus, 1% ride-share, & 3% other means.
  • Home security (Jan98) - Over 75% of those polled don't participate in a neighborhood watch program.
  • Fireworks (Dec98) - 68% celebrate the new year with fireworks.
  • TV Newscasts (Dec98) - KITV was the mostly watched news (49%), followed by KGMB (29%), KHON (11%), & KHNL (3%).
  • Parks (Dec98) - Regarding new park facilities in Mauka, 11% favored a 50m pool, 10% wanted more playing fields, & 79% favored a compromise - a pool & more playing fields.
  • Weekly trash pickups (Dec98) - 88% said they don't mind changing to weekly pickups to save money & encourage recycling. 12% said no.
  • 1998 Elections, Race for Governor - 50% preferred Ben Cayetano, 49% supported Maui Mayor Linda Lingle.
  • Design of New McDonald's Restaurant in Mililani Mauka (Nov98) - 88% don't like the design, 12% liked the design.
  • Impeachement of Bill Clinton - 74% didn't like how congrssional Republicans were handling the matter, 26% were satisfied with how it was being handled.
  • What next for Mililani Mauka (Dec98) - 87% prefer a grocery store, 13% want a restaurant.
  • 1998 Elections, Same Sex Issue - 72% were against allowing for same sex marriages,28% said it was ok.
