OAHU ARTS CENTER’S 2ND ANNUAL "A NIGHT OF THE ARTS" SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 27 AT MILILANI GOLF COURSE

     AUGUST 2, 2005 - Tickets are now on sale for the Oahu Arts Center's 2nd annual fundraising event, "A Night of the Arts," scheduled for Saturday, August 27, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Mililani Golf Course. Event highlights include food from Hawaii’’s favorite restaurants, wine and beer stations, a silent auction, and live entertainment.
     A Night of the Arts will feature a variety of cuisines, delicious desserts, and beverages. Participating restaurants and vendors include John Dominis, Roy’’s at Ko Olina, Sam Choy’’s Breakfast, Lunch & Crab, Hawaiian Chef, Jimmy’’s Lakeside Bakery Cafe, Meadow Gold, Mililani Golf Course Restaurant, and Shanghai Bistro. M&S Brokerage will have a wine station and Anheuser Busch will have a beer station.
     The evening
’’s entertainment features former ""American Idol"" contestant Jordan Segundo and Rolando Sanchez & Salsa Hawaii. Segundo will sign autographs following his performance. There will also be entertainment by various community groups, including the Mililani High School Drum Line, Los Amigos Balley Folklorico of Hawaii and an opening Hawaiian oli (chant) by Kumu Dennis Imamura. Honolulu City Council Member Nestor Garcia will serve as the evening’’s master of ceremonies.
     Proceeds from A Night of the Arts will be used to develop programs for an arts education center and performing venue in Mililani Mauka to serve the communities of Haleiwa, Kapolei, Mililani, the North Shore, Wahiawa, Waialua, Waianae, Waikele, Waipahu, and Waipio. Construction of the center is anticipated to begin in 2010.
    Tickets for the O‘‘ahu Arts Center’’s A Night of the Arts are $50 per person and $25 for children 12 and under. The event includes unlimited food, beverages, and entertainment. To order tickets by phone, call 848-7632. For more information, visit www.oahuartscenter.org.
