EXPAND TROLLEY SERVICE TO WAIPIO
GENTRY
by Darryl Yonezawa

I read a recent newspaper article regarding the Mililani Trolley and how Mililani is looking for ways to increase ridership.
One option to consider is to expand the trolley to include Waipio by Gentry.
Many people without cars, including the elderly and teens, would then be able to visit the shopping centers in Mililani, take advantage of nearby city parks, & visit friends and relatives.
Because there is no safe connection between our two communities for walkers or bikers, many people in Waipio Gentry never leave our community.
The trolley could enter or exit via Kamehameha Highway or the H-2 Freeway, and circle our small community on the three main streets: Waipio Uka, Ukee, and Moaniani.
This additional route would add no more than 20 minutes to the existing schedule, while significantly increasing overall ridership.
Another option is to include Waikele to the trolley schedule. Perhaps a direct line that connects Mililani, Waipio by Gentry and the Waikele Shopping Center.
The Trolley is a great addition to Mililani. I hope Mililani residents take advantage of this wonderful service. If the service is ever extended to Waipio by Gentry, overall ridership should increase significantly.
