DOES YOUR CHILD ATTEND WHEELER INTERMEDIATE?
by Vic Gustafson
Wheeler Intermediate is trying
to get the word out better to parents with regards to functions, meetings, briefings and
other events.
I suggested that the school could email notices to parents home or work
E-mail addresses to ensure they are receiving notification of the important activities
going on at the school.
Sending flyers home with the students does not appear to be working. An
example of this is that at the recent Technology Night, attendance was approximately 20
people.
Teachers think the reason is apathy - - as a parent, I believe it is a
lack of knowledge and communication of the events taking place in a timely manner.
If you have a child that is at Wheeler Intermediate now or possibly
will attend next year and would like to be receiving their notices, please send Wheeler
your email address so they can send you the information. Include the name of your child if
he/she is a current student.
The notices will also be "Team" oriented, so that if only one
team is involved in the activity, such as field trips, only those parents will receive the
notice.
If your child is not currently enrolled at Wheeler, list what grade
level information you are interested in receiving.
You are also welcome to check out their Website at: http:\\www.k12.hi.us\~wheeleri.
Again, if you are interested in receiving E-mail from Wheeler
Intermediate please send your address to: wheeleri@k12.hi.us
attn: to the PCNC.
Thank you. Aloha. |

HAVE WE BEEN LIED TO ALL THESE YEARS
by C. Suzuki All these
years, we've been told that we should vote...that our votes count... that a single vote
can decide an election.
But now, some elected & appointed officials are saying that the
ballot re-count won't mean anything...nothing will change the outcome of last year's
elections...that even if a few errors are detected, it doesn't matter..& so what if a
candidate should have received a few more or less votes here & there.
When I vote, even if the candidate I'm supporting doesn't win, it's
very important for me to know that the vote I cast did in fact go to the candidate
that I voted for. Otherwise, what's the sense of voting?
Those who oppose the re-count are missing the point. Hawaii voters need
to know that their votes really DO COUNT.
