SOCCER SKILLS FOR THE NEW MELLENIUM - THE COERVER METHOD OF BALL MASTERY

The Mililani Soccer Club is sponsoring the world’s number one soccer skills teaching program at a camp to
be held on December 26-30 at Mililani District Park, 4:00-6:00pm for U8-10 and 6:30-8:30pm for U11-U16.
Training will be conducted by the Coerver Coaching Canada’s John Judd, Joe Mathot and son Jason Mathot,
currently playing for Top Oss, Dutch First Division-Holland.

Klinsmann, David Beckham, Michelle Akers-Stahl and John Harkes. This program will excite and motivate both players and teachers. It is fun while challenging. Individual skill improvement is the foundation that all other parts of the game can be built on and that is what the Coerver Program focuses on.
Early registration fee for this 5-day soccer camp is $90, which includes t-shirt, $100 after 12/10/00 (no guarantee of t-shirt), $5 off for each additional sibling. Non-Hawaii Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) players will need to register with HYSA ($15) to participate. Registration Form
A separate Coaches Session will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, 9-11am at Mililani 16 Acres Park at a cost of $25.

DO CELLULAR ANTENNAS BELONG IN RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITIES
?

by Noel Araki

Cellular companies are placing more and more cellular antennas within
our residential communities. In some instances 50-foot antennas are placed less than 25-feet from a residential property. But what are there health
risks associated with Cellular Radio Frequency Transmissions?
Cellular RF emissions are the modern version of the Heptachlor Pesticide issue that came to the attention of the Mililani residents in 1983. At the time the pesticide was used it was believed to have no harmful effects, but ongoing studies are now showing evidence of long-term effects. Back in the 1960-1970 the Tobacco companies told the general public that cigarette smoke was not harmful to our health. Imagine where we would be today if we continued to believe them.
Currently these hand held cellular phones (with a 0.3-watt transmission) are being studied because of a possible link to their adverse effect to the
human anatomy. In fact some Cellular companies are now marketing how their designs transmit the least amount of RF to the user. So what is the effect of an antenna that transmits 50, 60 or 70-watts of power 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the human anatomy?
In Europe and abroad there have been studies and research that have shown that emission as low as 10 microwatts per sq/cm have an adverse effect on the human anatomy. However in the US it is the Cellular Companies who are performing the research, monitoring and enforcement of their own RF emissions. And the US Government follows these same reports completed by cellular companies that show that levels up to 500 microwatts per sq/cm is
safe. The City requires some safety measures be taken on levels above 100 mw per sq/cm. However there is no agency who performs arbitrary readings on cellular emissions, it is up to the cellular companies to police themselves on this issue.

YOU DIDN'T MISS A THING

by Jane Nelson

I had a good review, in my head. Oh, cartoons on Saturday morning at Pawa'a Theatre. Fun to remember the good old days. Oh, and Rainbow Rollerland. Oh, and Jackass Ginger. Oh, Oh, Oh. the memories. We had the best. But our parents could out do us. Being able to wear pants (women always wore Muu's from their necks to their ankles and wrists) to go hiking on the ridges. My grandfather holding the horses head so that he wouldn't see the the noisey contraption call the buggy. When Makiki was 4 blocks by 4 blocks and everybody really did know everybody.
All hundred of um. And we hope and pray that our children will say, that they are the luckies. Even if they don't remember Alfred Apaka, Aku Head Pupule, or Kini PoPo. Hopefully your children will write of the good old days, that they remember. And share in fond memories, as we do. I had a good cry. Oh, and the Civic Center.
