NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2000
  • Wayne Tani scored a hole-in-one on Dec 6 on the 153-yd 12th hole at Mililani using a 7-iron.
  • Ken Poentis scored a hole-in-one on Dec 1 on the 111-yd 13th hole at Kalakaua using a 8-iron.
  • Sang Im Leei scored a hole-in-one on Nov 23 on the 106-yd 5th hole at Hawaii Kai using a 7-iron.
  • Trojans win OIA girls bowling championship; capture 3rd place in state finals. story.

  • Mililan Girls won the OIA West bowling championship.
  • Ashlee Doi captured the Western Division 2-mile title at Nanakuli in 13:11.76.
  • Jeff Lim won the Western Division championship 3-mile race at Nanakuli in 16:47.55.
  • Patrick Mason scored a hole-in-one on Oct 6 on the 161-yd 2nd hole at Leilehua using a 5-iron.
  • Wayne Toma scored a hole-in-one on Sep 20 on the 167-yd 8th hole at Waikele using a 5-iron.
  • Stanley Shimote scored a hole-in-one on Sep 10 on the 161-yd 2nd hole at Leilehua using a 3-iron.
  • Malia Beter, Jamie Morgan, & Taryn Murata are playing soccer for UH at Manoa.
  • Bruce Harada scored a hole-in-one on Aug 30 on the 169-yd 11th hole at Ewa Villages using a 5-iron.
  • Brian Daniels was named player-of-the-week by the Honolulu Starbulletin. Daniels, a 6-foot, 215-pound senior, rushed for 279 yards and a state-record tying 6 touchdowns as the Trojans beat Kailua, 58-45 at
    Aloha Stadium.
  • The Mililani Viper roller hockey team, state champions, placed 14th at the national championship tournament in Ellenton, Florida
  • Compting against more than 300 cheerleaders from other Hawaii schools, the MHS's junior varsity cheerleaders were named "Top JV Team 2000" at a camp sponsored by the national Cheerleading Association

JUNE - AUGUST 2000

  • The Mililani Prep Girls softball team competed in the national Amateur Softball Association tournament in Normal, Illinois, finishing 9th out of a filed of 84 teams.
  • Tennis winners: Kelly Morgan, Joy Akahosi, & Lokelani Paia, & Get-a-Grip I team.

  • Richard Spacek scored a hole-in-one on Aug 13 on the 198-yd 10th hole at Hawaii CC using a 4-iron.
  • Mililani at Pony World Series.
  • Mililani Prep softball team won the ASA 18-under state title at the Ala Wai Field.
  • Harold Ng scored a hole-in-one on July 20 on the 140-yd 12th hole at Mililani using a 5-wood.
  • Mililani Illusions won the Under-13 champioship at the 2000 HYSA State Cup at Kapiolani Park.
  • Jim Kelly scored a hole-in-one on July 16 on the 167-yd 2nd hole at Mamala Bay using a 6-iron.
  • Dan Murakami scored a hole-in-one on July 13 on the 149-yd 7th hole at Pali using a 7-iron.

  • Aloha Aquatics-Mililani placed 8th overall in the State 2000 Age Long Course Championships held at Coach
    Soichi Sakamoto Swimming Pool in Wailuku, Maui.

  • Mililani Ekahi Wahine took 4th place in the ASA girls 12 & under state softball championship tournament at Koko Head District Park.
  • Kwi Lee Santoki scored a hole-in-one on June 5 on the 134-yd 15th hole at West Loch using a 6-iron.
  • Steven Sakamoto scored a hole-in-one on June 5 on the 150-yd 14th hole at Makalena using a 6-iron.
  • MHS senior Evan Yamada was awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the Monte Ito & Bill Gee Memorial Scholarship of the Golf Media Association of Hawaii.

APRIL - MAY 2000

  • Erin Hoe won her 4th straight state singles tennis championship. Honolulu Star-Bulletin story.
  • State Track Championships - MHS boys placed third; the girls team took second. Robby Phillipp was first in the 1,500 meter run (4:07.55) & 800 meter run (1:57:90). Vera Simms took first in the 100 meter high hurdles (14:85), 100 meter dash (12:39), & 300 meter low hurdles (44:34). The girls team of Elizabeth Dalrymple, Aieina Hammonds, Cherina Tucker, & Vera Simms took first in the 4X100 meter relay in 49:33.
  • Colin Imaoka scored a hole-in-one on May 5 on the 147yd 9th hole at Makaha West using a 7-wood.
  • Glenn Kakuna scored a hole-in-one on May 14 on the 200-yd 11th hole at PAla Wai using a 3-iron.
  • Kirk Banks Soccer Tournament - Mililani Girls Select Gold won the Under-12 title; Mililani Menehunes won the Best Sportsmanship award.
  • MHS, OIA Track & Field Champions.
  • Mililani lost to Kailua 7-4 in the OIA baseball championship game. 5/6.
  • Armando Oakes scored a hole-in-one on April 28 on the 143-yd 11th hole at Poipu Bay using a 8-iron.
  • Vera Simms & Erin Hoe were named to the Star-Bulletin's Honor Roll for outstanding performances in track & tennis, respectively. 4/27.
  • Randal Sakaino scored a hole-in-one on April 16 on the 140-yd 12th hole at Mililani using a 7-iron.
  • The following MHS athletes were honored by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin: Erin Hoe remained perfect in OIA play by beating Christy Kaneshiro of
    Pearl City 6-0, 6-1 at the OIA Team Championships, helping the Trojans take the title 3-1...Joel Maeshiro and Jeremy Perron downed Kaiser's top pair 6-4, 6-3 to help the boys win the tennis Team Championships 3-2 on Saturday...Robby Philipp ran on three first-place relay teams to lead the Trojans to the team championship in the OIA Relays.
  • MHS seniors Kara Naramatsu & Jamie Morgan were named to the all-state girls soccer second team.
  • MHS senior Vera Simms was named to the Star-Bulletin's honor roll for outstanding perfomance in track & field. Sims won the long-jump (15-2&1/2') & the 200 meter dash at Mililani. Sims also won the 100 high hurdles & 300 long hurdles at Punahou.
  • The Ho`oua (5-1) won the AYSO Girls Under-12 Balanced League Championship. Coached by Henry Higashi, team members include: Lauren Kaina, Jaimie Kim, Meaghan Nagaji, Alyssa Tao, Cassi Kawamura, Catie Yasuhara, Lori Higashi, Norine Ishii, & Chelsea Detwiler.
  • The MS1 team was 12-0-1 in the AYSO Silver Select Under-12 Girl's Division. Coached by Sanford Kawana & John Wong, team members include Heide Swan, Natasha Fortune-Checotah, Shea Nakasone, Tiffany Farias, Sabrina Kawana, LoriAnne Nonles, Nicole Mitani, Cara Uyeda, Stacey Murakami, Kristen Fujimoto, Caitlin Ohashi, Bethany Libed, Erika Conjugacion, & Taila Autele.

MARCH 2000

  • Trojans' sophomore left-hander Gainor Nitta was named Athlete of the Week by the Honolulu Star Bulletin. Nitta pitched a two-hit shutout as Mililani beat Waianae, 4-0, in the OIA West baseball opener for both teams. Nitta struck out 10 and walked three.
  • Faye Ogawa scored a hole-in-one on Mar 19 on the 77-yd 5th hole at West Loch using a 9-iron.
  • The OIA Champions MHS Girls Wrestling Team captured 4th place in the State Championships. Shani Alvarado is the state champion at 130 lbs. Brandi Vallesteros, 3rd at 121 lbs; Michelle Brogden, 4th at 175 lbs; Debbi Sakai, 5th at 108 lbs; Monic Melendez, 6th at 98 lbs. Other team members include: Angelina Nuanez, Kelli Ono, Stephanie Cornejo, Deborah Lee, Misty Fowler, Brenna Renn, & Daisy Polanski»Pics.
  • Ashley Alcuran scored a hole-in-one on Mar 14 on the 140-yd 4th hole at Makalena using a 9-iron.
  • Keiko Price (MHS '96) took 2nd place in the 100-meter freestyle at the NCAA Swimming Championships at Indianapolis with a time of 55.01 seconds.

FEBRUARY 2000

  • Alissa Schneider (MHS '99) was named Juniata College female athlete of the month.
  • The MHS Girls Wrestling Team made school history by taking its 1st OIA Varsity Wrestling Championships. Individual Champions:Brandi Vallesteros @ 121 lbs; Shani Alvarado @ 130 lbs; Michelle Brogden @ 175 lbs.
  • Lloyd Haraguchi scored a hole-in-one on Feb 13 on the 164-yd B7th hole at the Hawaii Prince course using a 7-iron.
  • Scott Goodrich scored a hole-in-one on Feb 13 on the 154-yd 6th hole at the Perl Country Club course using a 7-iron.
  • Mililani High School Varsity Girls Wrestling Team won the OIA Western Division Team Championships. Individual places were:  98 lbs - Monic Melendez, 4th;  103 lbs - Kelli Ono, 4th; 108 lbs - Debbi Sakai, 4th;  114 lbs - Stephanie Cornejo, 5th; 121 lbs - Brandi Vallesteros, 1st; 130 lbs - Shani Alvarado, 1st;  140 lbs - Brenna Renn, 4th; 155 lbs - Daisy Polanski, 2nd; & 175 lbs - Michelle Brogden, 2nd. The team was 9-1 during the regular dual meet season.
  • Mililani lost to Baldwin in overtime 2-1 in the State Girls' Soccer Tournament at Aloha Stadium.
  • OIA Champs Mililani (12-1-2) lost to Iolani (14-0-1) in the state boy's soccer championships by a score of 2-1. In previous pre-season meetings, Mililani & Iolani played to a tie, & Mililani beat Iolani in the Moanalua tournament.
  • OIA Champion Mililani (15-1) lost a close game to Iolani (19-0) in the State Softball Championships.
  • Mililani (10-0-2) won the OIA boy's soccer title by beating Castle 1-0.
  • David Lui scored a hole-in-one on Feb 5 on the 156-yd 10th hole at the Makaha West course using a 7-iron.

JANUARY 2000

  • Gregg Tanaka scored a hole-in-one on Jan 9 on the 130-yd 14th hole at the Barbers Point course using a 7-iron.
  • Mililani I Wins AYSO Under-19 Girls Title.
  • Mililan gold 1 Wins Windward Classic.
  • MHS Girls Softball team finished the OIA West with a perfect 10-0. Starters: Marie Jackson, Jamie Oda, Tiari Keliinoi, Anuhea Diamond, Kasaoka & Karyna Wilkerson, Miki Asamura, & Britney Shimamoto.
  • Ninety teams & over a thousand soccer players participated in the Sixth Annual Mililani 7-A-Side Soccer Tournament. Tournament co-directors were Edwin Kamikawa & Leslie Lee.
  • 1999 Honolulu Marathon Results: Frank Pugliese, 2:59:43 (90th); Colin Hilliman, 3:12:09 (194th); Tina Easkins, 3:14:48 (29th); Stephanie McLaughlin, 3:24:24 (44th); Mina Casey, 3:39:32 (87th).
